A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

Free speech on campus: It should come as no surprise that when Ann Coulter tries to speak on a college campus that trouble follows. For the record -- I'm no fan of Coulter's. I think she's a bomb-thrower and generally does more harm than good for the conservative cause.

But I wanted to highlight to something else in the article.

Eric Knudsen, a 19-year-old sophomore journalism and social welfare major at UConn, didn't attend the speech.

"We encourage diverse opinion at UConn, but this is blatant hate speech," said Knudsen, head of Students Against Hate. [emphasis added]

Am I the only person who went into journalism because I liked writing and not because I wanted to promote some agenda?

Comments:
I keep hearing you and O'Reilly calling Ann Coulter a "bomb thrower"; if that's the case, almost every leading democrat in Congress is a bomb thrower. Inflammatory speech? They have called the President a liar. They've attacked his Cabinet (Plame/Wilson) and the Vice President (draft dodger, Haliburton), all on pure speculation. No facts. On the other hand, Ann's statements, although extremely pointed, are based on fact.

It seems that Ann had it correct in her last article (11/30/05) Republicans will not stand up for themselves, but continuously stand up for democrats (Murtha).

It seems to me that the definition of a bomb thrower is one that makes accusations not based on fact.

Interesting--are there Republican facts and Democrat facts? I think both sides pick and chose their "facts" and thus people like Coulter do not advance the cause of civil discourse on the major issues of the day.

You think or you know? There are all too many who accuse Coulter of bomb throwing or, stripping away the verbal dancing here, lying.

But there are precious few who actually back that up. How about a few cites demonstrating that Ann's lying.

No, there was someone else who went because they liked writing... Never mind, you are the only one.
