A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

Democracy, Whiskey, Sexy!: You haven't heard much hand-wringing (sorry for the mixed metaphor) from the American press lately over the possiblity that the Iraqis would follow their Shiite brethren in Iran in choosing some sort of Islamic theocracy.
Why? Because popularly elected governments (even in America you paranoid liberals) don't go for theocracy.
Ministry of Interior in Iraq abolished Saddam's alcohol, night clubs and casinos restriction law which was introduced in the 90's. The law has been abolished because it interferes with and limits Iraqis personal freedom. Businesses, however, are required to obtain a licence from Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Health.
More good news for freedom.
