A tale of two editorials: The New York Times has a lukewarm editorial on Saturday's historic election in Afghanistan.

As I read the piece, I couldn't help but be reminded of the Times editorial on the Venezuelan referendum which called on those who complained of obvious, widespread fraud to simply shut up.

The Times is always more pessimistic when anything good comes of what President Bush has done.
