Lying liar: Let's set out a couple of facts about Republicans and the military. Unlike some on the left, Republicans have an extremely high degree of respect for those who've chosen to serve their country. The morale of those in the military is important to Republicans.
For these two reasons, Republicans would be the very last ones to consider a draft. Republicans don't want to force people into the military who don't want to be there -- pulling down the morale and reducing the effectiveness of those who've chosen to join the military.
Barring another World War, Republicans are not going to bring back the draft.
So it would be nice if Sen. John Kerry would stop telling baldfaced lives.
There is a "great potential of a draft" to replenish U.S. forces in Iraq if President Bush wins a second term, Democratic challenger John Kerry said on a campaign stop in Iowa.
Bush said in the second presidential debate that there would be no revival of the military draft under any circumstances if he is re-elected. "We're not going to have a draft, period," the president said.
However, Kerry told The Des Moines Register, "With George Bush, the plan for Iraq is more of the same and the great potential of a draft." The interview was published Friday as Kerry was leaving for Wisconsin and a speech on the economy.
It would be nice if someone in the media would stand up to the Democratic candidate and ask him why he continues to peddle something he knows is a lie. Unfortunately, the media is working hard to deliver their 15 points to the Democrat candidate.
