A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

Computers for grandparents: I spent most of today out with my grandmother helping her get a new computer. Her old AMD K6-2 Windows98 machine was getting really clunky. So, now she's got a new eMachines box with more than she'll probably ever use for less than $500.

The unfortunate thing was, as expected, Service Pack 2 for WindowsXP hadn't been installed yet. So, rather than waiting several weeks to get that and the anti-virus program up to date on her dial-up connection, I spent a couple of hours with my parents broadband connection. I can't imagine relying on a dial-up connection with all of the patches and updates every single piece of software requires nowadays.
