A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

Compliments: I must confess that I'm not that good at accepting compliments. They make me feel uncomfortable and I try to dismiss them. But, I'm a whole lot better than Texas Tech coach Bobby Knight.

One eyewitness told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal that Knight raised his voice to (Texas Tech Chancellor David) Smith after the chancellor approached him at a salad bar to compliment the coach on his recent good behavior.

The witness told the paper that Knight flew into a rage and accused Smith of being a liar, saying that there had been nothing wrong with his demeanor this year.

Now, maybe Smith was being facetious, but the wise thing to do is just smile and say: "Thanks."

Dumb, Bobby, dumb.
