Amazon Honor System Click Here to Pay Learn More

A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

Math problem: OK, my friends and I are playing "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" on the Xbox. It has a better plot than either Episode I or II. Anyway, there is a series of puzzles that require some mathematical ability, and the first three were easy. The fourth was difficult:

Problem: 4 * 14 * 11-14 * 31-14 * 13-21-14 * ...?... * ...?...

Answer: 31-13-12-14 * 23-41-12-14

My question is: Why? It's possible that I'm thinking this is difficult and the answer is really obvious -- once you know what to look for.

If anyone with more math proficiency than I can give me a hand, I'd really appreciate it. Either e-mail me or just post the explanation in the comments field.
