A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

What Weidner said: I must confess that I wholeheartedly agree with John Weidner's assessment of the remarks of certain Democrats.
Can you imagine, can you even imagine Republicans instantly denouncing President Roosevelt for speaking defiance to the Nazis or the Japanese? "It was foolish for the president to brag openly about winning the Battle of Midway. His 'bring it on' attitude hasn't worked. Such statements can only goad Tojo into trying harder."
This is part of the morale function of a leader -- something Jimmy "Malaise" Carter never figured out.
The truth is, that there is nothing President Bush could do that could please most Democrats short of committing suicide.
