A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

Revenge of the Sith: Saw it late last night in a rather sparsely attended showing 11:25 showing. The special effects, space battles and light-saber fights were wery impressive. The acting was rather wooden -- it's saying something when the best acting job in the entire movie is done by a CGI character -- Yoda.

I just don't understand how George Lucas, as a director, can do this to these actors. Samuel L. Jackson and Natalie Portman are excellent actors -- as they've proven in so many other films. I caught a little bit of the movie "Shattered Glass" yesterday afternoon, and despite widespread belief, that film proves Hayden Christensen has some acting ability.

The movie's definitely worth seeing, but don't expect to see any Academy Award-winning acting.

Comments:
Don't forget Ewan McGregor as a very accomplished actor. His body of work has included very interesting characters. In Trainspotting he plays a fantastic Holden Caufield type character very well. Check out Shallow Grave for a very dark, morbid comedy. Moulin Rouge, Blue Juice, all great acting. Under Lucas... It's amazing that Hans Solo managed to be cool.

And don't forget Harrison Ford's infamous line, "You can write this shit, George. But you sure can't say it." The story is great. The dialogue stinks. That's how he does it.

And, because Lucas is so big now, there is no one like Ford to tell him that his dialogue sucks.

With all its flaws, I was very happy with the movie, and there were some great parts to the last two. These movies, however, needed the 30 year old hungry Lucas, not the 60 year old greedy bastard who has become everything he once hated.
