The comments on the post to which you refer are all of the pooh-pooh variety, anti-lawyer, that kind of stuff. Rational response, but not necessarily true. I've certainly noticed that my printer tells me that my black or colored ink is running low long, long before it ceases to print for me, suggesting that, just like magazine subscription solicitation which seems to suggest that the publication is about to stop coming, the end is near when it really isn't. I can't otherwise tell, and if I put in a new cartridge due to the warning, guess who benefits.
