An op-ed correction: Thursday's New York Times offers up the following correction on the op-ed page:


[A]n Op-Ed article yesterday about Irish attitudes toward President Bush imprecisely compared the populations of Ireland and Atlanta. The population of Ireland is smaller than that of the Atlanta metropolitan area, but not that of Atlanta proper.


What does it say about a newspaper when it will make this correction, but won't make all of these?
