A note on the Amazon ads: I've chosen to display current events titles in the Amazon box. Unfortunately, Amazon appears to promote a disproportionate number of angry-left books. I have no power over it at this time. Rest assured, I'm still a conservative.

Levin's "logic": Just got done watching Tony Snow's interview on "Fox News Sunday" with Michigan Democrat Senator Carl Levin. Levin spent much of the interview pushing for the Bush administration to do whatever it takes to get the U.N. to pass a new resolution so we can get "international support" (read: Germany and France and for some strange reason Pakistan and India) for the rebuilding of Iraq.

Levin's "logic" is that if the Baath Party bitter-enders and the foreign terrorists attacking U.S. forces see that it's not really a "Western" occupation (somehow the Pakistani Muslim troops and the Indian Hindu troops will have a great psychological impact on them), then the attacks on U.S. troops will stop.

That might work if we were occupying one of the "chocolate makers" who put a lot of faith in the U.N. and multilateralism. But, does Levin actually think the out-of-power Baathists will just lay down their rocket-propelled grenades because they see a couple of Pakistaini soldiers standing on a streetcorner? Or that terrorists whose sole desire is to kill all non-Muslims, starting with Americans, will just forget about it when they see some Hindu soldier with a red dot on his head?

Levin believes that Islamist terrorists think like he does (scary thought) and projects what he would do on them. Sen. Levin, wake up, terrorists don't think that way.

Democrats believe the United Nations to be a panacea for all the world's ills -- it isn't. Democrats believe the United Nations does the right thing -- it doesn't.

The only Democrat presidential candidate who has a hope convincing the American people that he is tough on defense is Joseph Lieberman -- and the Democrats don't seem inclined to nominate him.
